Amp going into protection mode for no reason....
I have had my sub and amp hooked up and working for about a month and a half and all of a sudden the other day my amp shut off and the protector light came on. I pulled over and checked the amp and he was very very hot.
I only had the volume at 15 and bass wasn't set higher or anything. And couple weeks before I had the volume at 25 with full bass and it ran fine without heating up. I only have one 10 inch sub and a 1200 watt amp so it can't be getting over powered. This makes no sense!!
Any suggestions...?

1- the weather is warming up
2- the amp isnt getting enough air to cool it
3- amp/ woofer fault
4- low system voltage
I am thinking it is #2 or #4. how is the amp mounted is it upside down or in a pile of rags? do you have good clean and tight power connections with adequate power cable

Its mounted on the back of my back seat. It prolly isn't getting much cold air, but even when my seat is down with all the windows open and the trunk open it still goes into protection mode.
The power connections I have were installed by a professional, I'm hoping they didn't mess it up hah. But my battery is in my trunk so there isn't much cable, but it worked fine for a while... Should I replace it?

1- look for free answers first (turn down gain, bass boost, EQ... tighten connections to power and speakers, check voltage at amp etc)
2- then inexpensive (wiring)
3- then start throwing money (is this a 1- amp problem, 2- speaker problem, 3- car problem (battery, wiring, alternator)
sorry it wasnt air flow... you wanted it to be air flow

I'm in the same boat. Concept CCA-752 amp I bought new in 2002. Used for about a year or so 2005-2007 in my truck. Ran fine, no problem. Just running a pair of 6-ohm 7" midbass, stereo. Reconnected the system last month after a 2 or so year hiatus, and the red light is on. Amp wasn't removed from where it sat. Wiring just reconnected. Disconnected speakers, same thing. Only thing I know I did do was didn't have the remote on connected when initial power was applied last month. Connected remote on back up and expected it to turn on. It did, but with the red Protect light

Yea wish it was air flow...
See the bad thing is, is I have check and rechecked ever wire in my car (except the internal stock wires which you can't check without ripping the car apart). And everything is done up right and secure. Now I have to assume its an amp problem. I even put in a different deck and sub and it still didn't work. Now to try a different amp... Guess sony amps aren't the best...
I guess in this case it SUX 2BME....

... could be caused by any one of a number of things but it does sound like the amp has corrosion or an internal fault of some sort to heat up like that. You can swap in another amp and that will tell you right quick if it is the amp (if the 2nd amp works fine...). I dont think Sony makes crap, they make inexpensive stuff and frankly it should perform poorer than an expensive product right. sometimes stuff just fails
