amp shuts down?

i just bought two 10" boston acoustic G1 subs and installed them into a bass works truck box. i am running the subs with a 600w alpine v12 monoblock amp....they sound awesome at legible listening level, but when i crank up the volume the amp goes into protection mode{assuming)....displays CUR on the amp screen, the only way to re power the subs is to shut the amp off and restart it, ive adjusted the amp over and over, but this happens every time...could it be that the amp is not powerful enough. or that the amp is not receiving enough power initially? im running 4 guage wire, no capacitor though.

im running it at 2.0....im pretty sure i should be able to run these fine at this setting, ive had this amp hooked up to two 12 " premiers running with the gain set at 1.0 to 1.5. i tried running it higher, but even with it cranked right out, the amp will click out with hard hitting bass

sounds like a bad power or ground connection to me.... go through all of the wiring...

generally the problem is the ground point, so make sure it's clean and solid....

alright i dug out the manual for the amp and it says that when it displays CUR on the screen it mean that there is excessive current running through it...why would this be??

If your power connections are all good then you probably have speaker wires that are shorting out....

check the speaker wire and all connections... if its all ok then the sub's tinsel leads are probably shorting out on eachother or the basket.....

coat them with liquid electrical tape or contact cement and all should be good....
