Audiobahn 3201T Amplifier
#21
Hi guys, thanks for the help this far. Could i not just wire my subs + and - of one to one channel of the amp and + and - of the other sub to the other channel of the amp?. Would this not allot me to have a 4 ohm load and get 300W RMS going to each sub. Correct me if im wrong. Im just getting more confused haha. How can i get 300W RMS going to each sub at a 4 ohm load? Thanks for being patient guys.

to get a 4 ohm load from each sub would result in you only hooking up one voice coil of each sub. since your sub has 2 coils, sound will improve if you hook up each coil.
YES, take the positive and negative of each sub and put into each channel of the amp and you will get 400Wrms.
wiring will look like this:
from the amp split the signal, make 2 runs of speaker wire to each terminal of your sub.
2 for the +
2 for the -
presenting a 2 ohm load to each channel of your amp. resulting in about 400Wrms roughly...
But you can tone down the power your amp is putting out my adjusting the gain.
If your amp has 2v pre outs, set your amp to 4v's sensitivity roughly, or as low as it will go. 5-8v's is a really strong signal from your deck so your amp compinsates buy lowering its sensitivity to the signal.
now crank up your system to where you can hear distortion, it will sound muddy and not be clean at all, now back off the volume of your deck to where your speakers sound clean again, then slowly turn up the gain on your amp untill your subs sound just like you want them to sound. for your aplication i would say 1v or so lower then what your deck is rated to put out. so if your deck puts out 2 set it to about 3, if it puts out 4 set it roughly to 5. and just slowly tweek and tune till it sounds optimal.

Ok i talked to rob at forbidden and he says the best way is to wire them to get a 4 ohm load, and bridge the amp. The amp supposedly puts out 840 RMS x 1 at 4 ohms but he says in reality its putting out about 500-650 RMS. This means ill be running the amp in mono and bridged. Each of my subs should get around 250-300 W RMS and that will be good. I would imagine i have this straight now. Thanks to everyone who put up with me. Did you find info to support this amp being 2 ohm stable, i didnt?

Its pretty much a given that 2 channel amps are stable at 2 ohms in stereo and 4 ohms bridged.
If youre current amp is running the subs in bridged mode the subs are most likely series allready and running together to get 4 ohms.
should be able to just bridge them to the new amp the exact way they are hooked to youre pioneer amp.
