Big three
Big three
Well I finally got around to doing the big 3 on my Dakota today. I've been putting this off for a while due to the cold flipping weather we have been having. I'm happy that I did it though, because apparently Chrysler can't do math very well. Why would they put a 130 amp alternator in these things at the factory and then run 8 gauge wire? Anyhow I ran two sets of 0 gauge for the big 3. I'm getting ready to install the Collosus so I figured I better tough out the cold and get it done. Tomorrow I will run another 0 gauge to the back, move my existing amps over to make some room, and then install the Collosus.
Total load is 280 amps. Total run is about 13 feet. After tomorrow I will have 2 runs of 1/0 plus a run of 4 ga. Although this thing sucks a lot of power it technically isn't an SPL rig. It won't be very often that I pull maximum amperage, but there may be times that I might.

And yes, I hate voltage drop.
The 'big three' is a bit overrated IMO... and as Dukk would say it's more like the 'big one' which makes any significant difference....
and it's really not that significant
but it sure can't hurt either.......

Well I can tell you that there are more benfits to the big three other than just stereo power. My truck turns over much faster on cold starts and the power windows go up and down a lot quicker as well.
