Cerwin Vega Vmax vs. Sony

I am looking for some opinions on the above sub woofers. According to the specs the 12", 1200 watt sony sub can handle 350 watts RMS, and 1200 watts peak power. The 12" Cerwin Vega sub can only handle 300 watts RMS and 800 watts peak power. Does this mean that if the two were hooked up to the same amp, the sony would be louder?

I think if you took a poll, you'd find most members with any experience with Sony car audio would rate it as pretty crappy in general. CV is pretty decent stuff. And just because 2 subs are rated for the same power handling and are the same "size (12" for example), does not mean they will necessarily sound the same. There are a lot of other factors that will determine what kind of 'sound' you will end up with. Best try and test the sub in a recommended enclosure in the same type of environment (re: your car and power settings, etc.) to hear what you're getting. Happy listening!
