hey everyone, i need some help, ive got an 89 honda prelude si that i use for spl, right now i have two mtx 9500 series 15 inch subs, a stinger 30 farad cap, all 0 gauge power wire and 2 spv70 stinger batteries but im guessing not enough juice from my factory alternator. i have four mtx 1501d amps but i can and could only run one of these amps without dropping major voltage. with one amp i drop from 15.4v to 11.5ish and hit 148 db. with two amps i hit 144 db max and after a few seconds my cap kicks off around 9v. what do i need to do to power all four of these amps as best possible

I have always wondered what would happen if some one installed a secondary alternator (a 1-wire style) and used it for their stereo only. My car has twin 200's that are 1 wire. Talk about an easy install. But of course my car is 38 years old.
If you had room and could fab up a bracket for an additional alternator (say 200 amps like mine) and connect the single 0 gauge wire to a couple of isolated batteries that do not interface with any other part of the car...........

back in the day we use to cross wire dodge alts onto the chevs.but now you hardy have the room to get a wrench in lut alone a second alt.

i have 2001 grand am im in the mids of getting a second alt right under the factory alt running a chain clutch drive.but we need about 3 inches beat in at the firewall.ill be posting pic's soon as its done.

ther is not much room under the hood of my car where it has a low hood line, the only way i would fit a secound alt is to go up. but if i have to cut the hood to make room, i can do that :P what ever it takes to power my system. id like to run the second alt to my stinger batteries in the trunk and use that power just for the mono amps. add a battery up front and run my factory alt off of it to run the cars bassics and my four channel and monitors, my 4 channel also has a 150 amp fuse but i doubt it would ever need anywhere neer that
