hey

i drive an 81 malibu.
when i bought it it had this system custom installed. it worked no problem.

then suddenly my 30 year old frame decides to crack and i had to get some welding done. had to unplug everything in the trunk and take it out.

now when i get my car back, i try plugging everything back together exactly how it was, but aint working. 3 25A fuses in my amp blow as soon as i turn the car on. If the fuses hold, i get this strobing from my capacitor.
(the led on the capacitor flashes very rapidly just like a strobe light along with the over heat light and surge light on the amp)

any ideas?

First off, I will admit that I'm no expert by any means but I have been doing a lot of car audio research lately as I just purchased a bunch of new equipment and will be putting my system together when my package arrives in the mail.

Back on topic, the fact that your fuses are blowing soo fast would indicate a bad ground to me. I would definitely double check your ground and ensure it's soild. Also double check all of your wiring and ensure none of them are loose as they could be shorting out the amp and causing all of your problems.

Good luck.

Did u discharge the cap when u took it out, and charge it before hooking it back up? If not, u could've caused a major voltage spike when hooking up the main power fuse that could definitely damage an amp. Seen it happen. Check all the basics first, but if u have a good ground and the amp blows fuses even without the subs hooked up you might be lookin at a repair or replacement amp.
