Is my sub killing my gas millage?

I'm not sure if its just me..but last week I discovered the gain **** on my amp. I have a 300w amp at 4ohms hooked up to a 350rms sub. So I turned it up because it was not putting out enuff bass for my tastes. Now I drove around over the weekend, no more than I usually do. And it seems that im eating gas like nothing. Now I dont know if its because its the way im driving, or because I cant hear that im gunning it over my system:P. But would my setup affect my mpg at all?

99 Grand Prix.

if you add 500lbs = to 1mpg
if your alt can not keep up to the amps going out then yes you will have a lower mpg

If you are treating the gain **** on your amp as a volume control, you had better be ready to buy a new sub. Time to do some searching and reading on how to PROPERLY set your gain control. A cap for the most part will not do scratch for you. A alternator may or may not be beneficial depending upon the size of the amp(s). Do a search on the big 3 as well.

I dont think im using it as a volume control, I just turned it up a bit. My amp is only 300watts at 4ohms. Where can I find a guide to properly change my gain?

Is it just a coincidence that it seems im loosing mpg?
