New-Old Question

Hey all, im back with another newb question.

I am in serious need of some more power for my current sub and have come to a consideration and a question... strapping

amp: Exile 1200.1
sub: 12" '05 RE XXX
impedance: 1 ohm (1200 watts)

I would like to see it around 2000w by the time im done this upgrade.

My idea is if i can pick up another Exile 1200.1, i can run a single amp to each coil, giving it 800 watts per coil, or 1600 total for a daily set up.

This much i understand, however, here comes my question

If i get 2 of the 1200.1's and strap them, still runing the sub at 1 0hm, will the two amps theoretically act as 1, and therefore provide a 1ohm load to both of them, giving me 2400 watts at 1 ohm?

I have searched topics regarding this and i keep on hearing considerations of the amps actually seeing .5 ohm if they are run at 1 ohm, and if thats the case it would still not be a huge issue (i have heard that these amps can take a beating and keep on kicking) but i would rather know in advance so i can treat them accoringly.

thanks in advance for all the help

If you wire the sub down to 1 ohm, and strap the amps on them, that load is halved between them... they WILL see .5 each
