no midrange setting on cda-9885?

I just got an alpine cda-9885. And I see no midrange setting...even in the manual!

I would have noticed that before i bought it.

If thats a feature you really want/need, you've got the wrong unit.
My guess is you're about to find out how good the return/exchange policy is at the store you bought it from.

I've got the 9855, It's got 5 or 7 bands of eq.

I'll trade you even?

I've never heard of a deck not having the midrange EQ. It has subwoofer, trebble, and HPF on it. There must be a way of setting it, they just made it more difficult I think.

Bass Control:
Bass Center Frequency: 60Hz, 80Hz (default), 100Hz, or 200Hz
Bass Band Width (Q): Q1 (narrow), Q2, Q3, or Q4 (wide)
Bass Level: -7 to +7 (-14dB to +14dB in 2dB steps)
Treble Control:
Treble Center Frequency: 10kHz (default), 12.5kHz, 15kHz, or 17.5kHz
Treble Level: -7 to +7 (-14dB to +14dB in 2dB steps)
Defeat On/Off: reset the unit to its factory default bass and treble settings by turning the Defeat function on

Seems like there is no specific midrange option, however you can switch the bass center frequency to be 100 or 200 and boost it. That would help the midbase and I assume that's what you want and not just midrange... but maybe not.

If you really want to play around in the midrange 500hz 4000hz then your out of luck.

Yeah I'm not sure why they did it that way. There is no specific midrange option at all.

What you Should do is try all settings, see what works what doesn't and what sounds best to you.

I tried all the settings on the eq, 5 bands, each has center and bandwidth, then put everything back to flat.
If i want eq, the facory presets "rock, easy, country, jazz, clasical etc." are close enough and a lot easyier to get to on my HU.

I'd be happy with a simple bass & treble...

Alpine has toned down there EQ stuff on the new models. And my midbass is blown too so that would make a difference also. But still the midrange is really low...
