I have $400 to spend on a 12" sub, just one for now til i change vehicles then i'll buy a second to match it. I'm after a good sq/spl sub i'll be running a excelon 600rms amp to it for now. So what would you guys buy in my position?

Alpine type X...1000watts rms, very clean, tight bass, gets plenty loud..especially with 2and 2000 watts....when you upgrade. It'll be somewhat docile with 600 watts, but think ahead. Also, readily available, and will be for a long time. Lots of great reviews and if you shop around or look in the For sale section, you may get a great deal.
