Pioneer Premier 12"

i just bought a 12" pioneer premier sub, 3000Watts peak, 1000Watts rms. im new to the whole audio scene and ive been looking for an amp thats gonna give me full power of the sub and dont really no where to start. Im looking for a mono amp and not looking to go too expensive. Its Dual coil so im guessing i wanna run an amp thats 1000W rms at 4 Ohms????

well you dont want to go above the Rms rating to far , if you have a dual voice sub , you can go 2 ohm , u should check your sub ratings to see what it can handle , i would say look for a amp that can give you 1200 Rms , 600 per voice coil , that would pound nicely. good luck!

Is your sub dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm?

You should look for amps that put out around 1200 watts rms at either a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load.

I'll be the third to recommend a 1200W RMS amp.
Either at 4 or 1 ohm.
Not many amps can deliver 1200W into 4 ohms, and not many amps are good down to 1 ohm.
Look around though.

k thanks yeah its really tough finding an amp that can push 1200W rms at 4 ohms. Whats the downside of running off 1 ohm? Are there any good amps that run on 1 ohm around that wattage?

or would finding an amp running a good amount of power with 2 channels be easier?

I would say stick with a mono block 1200@1ohm. What is your budget for an amp? And does buying used bother you. There are some sick deals through some of the members on here.
