Question Please Help. [PIONEER built in USB with IPOD]

I recently got a Pioneer MP3 CD Car Deck With USB (DEH-P5000UB). I was under the impression that you just plug the ipod into the IPOD DOCK CONNECTOR (The white cable that came with the ipod) and plug that into the USB cable that attaches to the car deck. I tried this, and the screen of my car deck says "Check USB". I dont know what to do. I dont want to buy a transmitter or any of that. This deck is suppose to be "IPOD READY". Do I need another cable or something? Anything would help. Thank you!!

I can't find your exact model, but accodring to the page from Pioneer (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/%22uBus%22+USB+Control+for+iPod%2C+MP3+Players+and +More) you should be able to get it to work plugging it in as you did. My first recommendation is to try something else in the usb cord, like a memory key or something to see if it will read from that.

Thank you. And I dont have a memory stick although I have tried plugging my regular MP3 player into the USB, and it still didnt work. I am taking it in to be looked at tomorrow, so hopefully it all gets figured out. If you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thank you. =)

usually with head units you have to buy a seperate cable for ipods to be used.. kinda gay, but will probably run you around 50 bucks..

This is what I had to do for my ipod.. then the ipod screwed up, so I have a useless cable.

Sell the ipod cable to the op and you'll both be happy.

just checked, and it is the same one

the CD-i200

It sells for about 30 bucks online, so I'd take a look at the shop you bought it from, and pick one up there..

It'd save me the hastle of tearing it out of my car.
