Heres the problem. With the car off, HU on but volume turned down to zero, there is a lot of interference/noise. On top of this, when given some volume the front speakers (pioneer premier speaker components) go crazy (pop and crack and all of that). My sub also goes nuts when this happens. The amp (described below) flashes the protect light at this point and gives the speakers power every couple of seconds.

So I moved my ground cable...still noise and same problem.
So I replaced my OLD *** AMP with a JBL75.2II....still noise and same problem.
So I replaced my RCA cables with some much much better twisted type...still noise and same problem.
I noticed my HU face was not always displaying things so I replaced it with a Pioneer Premiere DEH-P690UB...still noise and same problem.
I changed the grounding point for my HU...still noise and same problem.
I changed my main Amp Grounds AGAIN....still noise and same problem.
I have 2 amps: one is a 1000W kennwood powering a Alpine 12" type R and the (mentioned above) is a JBL75.2II powering my pioneer front components. The rear speakers are Pioneer Premiere 6X8s and are not powered by an amp...yet.


I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
I have spliced the remote lead off the HU into 2 wires are ran them back to the amps. My amp grounds are less than 10 inches in length and are grounded to the same grounding block.
I disconnected the one amp (sub amp) and the noise was still there. I connected the sub amp to the front speakers (disconnecting the sub) and the noise was still there.
I disconnected the components and replaced one side with another 6X8 and had the same noise problem.
I am going to check for a grounded speaker wire tomorrow coming off one of the amps but other than that I dont know what to do.

ANYONE HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION!!! I WANT TO ENJOY ALL MY MONEY!!!!!

Speaker or speaker leads grounding out somewhere would be my first guess.

found that the positive terminal on one of my front speakers broke off its mounting (wierd) and was touching the negative terminal. Problem #1 solved

Now I have to figure out the noise issue and alternator whine.

It was a little hard to follow in your post, but have you checked all the speakers? What you described was what you had a connection to the speakers grounding/ shorting (more likely grounding).

Now you mentioned alternator whine... well since you have done so much already to the power connections to ground (they are solid and clean metal to metal contacts right?) I am gonna guess it is the RCA either ungrounded or a loose contact (solder joint). take a wire and ground the outer phase of the RCA (to the amp casing should be easiest). Next buy another RCA run and replace the existing one (spend less than $10 on this).
