Speakers for 04 Mustang w/Mach 460 system
Hey Guys,
I've been out of the car audio scene for a while and just getting back in. I'm looking to replace the stock speakers in the car with some aftermarket ones. I have a sweet 6 channel amp I'm going to use to power them, but I'm stumped as to what size to get.
I was on this site: http://www.flemworld.com/Mach460/Mach.html
What can I use to replace the 5.5" x 7.5" speakers and what can I use for the 2.5" speakers? The 5.5x7.5's are in the lower doors and rear windshield and the 2.5's are in the front door window 'pods' and in the deck below the rear windshield.
I don't want to cut anything, just want something that will fit (even if I have to make an adapter plate). I was thinking of going with a 5.25" component set (mid-woofer + tweeter + crossover) like this:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Speakers/D-Series/Pioneer/TS-D1320C
Would this be a good/safe bet or could I fit something bigger? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Chris

6x8 components from any number of manufactuers...infinity, jbl, image dynamics, alpine, JL audio, pioneer, etc...perfect fit, excellent sound and no hassles. if you want to do more, then you can fit 6.5" components with adaptors up front, and maybe just use 6x8 co-axials for the rear.

Definitly use some good pointsource speakers for this application if you are after respectable sound and easy install. Eclipse makes some great speakers for this vehicle (I use them in my Ford), the SP5710. While it appears as a 2way speaker, it is infact a separate component speaker and the tweeter is removeable out of the center and comes with a set of mounting brackets. Exactly what you need.
