Question Sub upgrade/replacement questions

Hi there,

I currently have a Pioneer TS-W33C 12" sub in a ported box driven by a Bazooka EL260. The other day I noticed the poly cone on the sub had cracked and pieces had fallen out(the cone is very brittle now), I suppose a few years of hot and cold took it's toll.
I would like to not only replace it but upgrade it as well using the same box. I'm looking at the Infinity Kappa 120.9 and an Eclipse XA1200 amp which seem to compliment each other and fall within my budget($400 range).
Two things I'm not sure about, first the cutout recommended for the Kappa is 11-3/16ths so I'm assuming that's the inside diameter of the opening? If so the Pioneer measures approx. 11.5" in dia. at the mounting screws and sits in a bevelled opening of about 12" in outside dia. so I'm hoping the Kappa will fit into the current opening.
Second is that the Pioneer came as a unit with the box so it should be tuned for it's specs(which I don't know) and ideally I am hoping I can just drop the Kappa in and it will sound OK. The specs for the Kappa recommned 2 cubic feet of volume for the box and I have no idea what volume the box is but it's dimensions are 12.5"X14"X25". So subtracking 2" from each measurement to compensate for wall thickness it works out to 1.58cu.ft.. If I'm correct would the loss off approx. .4 cu.ft. effect the performance of the Kappa significantly? Is there any way to make up for it? I heard stuffing the enclosure with batting can 'fool' the sub into thinking it's in a bigger space.

BTW, I barely know more than the basics about car audio so treat me like an idiot.

Thanks for any help.

I get 1.87cuft assuming .75 wood thickness. This doesn't include your port or sub displacements. I'd just get another box built to your likings.

First i would stuff the box with the polyfill and try the new sub in there before dumping money if its not needed
