Exploring the options for a simple upgrade...
If you look at my sig, you can see what I have now.
Looking for ways to do an easy upgrade on the bass if possible.
One option I've been considering is replacing 1 of the Type Rs with a Type X to bring my overall load on the amp down to 1ohm, releasing an extra ~500W into the Type X.
The current overall load is 1.33ohms and the Type Rs are dual 2ohms with the VCs wired in series (4ohms), and then all subs are in parallel. Each sub gets about 1000W.
If I throw in a Type X, the Type Rs will still get their 1000W each, but the Type X will get about 2000W (since it's a dual 4ohm and the VCs will be wired in parallel to 2ohms) if my calculations are right (4000W total).
Would this be any decent improvement in the total volume, or should I explore another option?
Maybe a different brand sub will do better with that kind of power?
Box size has to stay the same, due to trunk space.
