Surging Q's

Surging..

What is it and how does it happen? I've heard it's not great for your speakers/amp. My current set up does this; it stopped when I had 2 amps and 2 other subs installed but came back when I removed one amp and the 2 other said subs (trunk space).

I'm thinking the distributor block stopped it from happening but it came back, like I said when I removed the other amp.

Oh and surging is that popping from the sub/speaker when the amp turns on/off right?

From your last question it sounds like you're not sure what you're asking. I'll take a guess that you mean turn on/off thump. It's usually caused by the amps turning on before the deck or amp's output voltage has had time to stabilize. It's usually only a problem with cheap amps, if you have any half way respectable brand it could be one of your amps needs minor repairs. Try to isolate which amp is doing it and under what conditions. (ie: only when turning on, only when turning off, when you've been eating chili, etc.)

Yes the "thumping" when its turned off and on. I thought my first post was a little confusing so I'll simplify it.

I have a Concept mono amp running a 10" Pioneer. I bought both for only $80 so I'm not worried if anything goes wrong with them but the thumping is annoying. It does it sometimes not all the time. These won't be staying in too long as I'm building a new enclosure when I get all my new stuff.
