trickle charge question

just had a thought, wondering if it would work...i have a trickle charger that i got from can tire, it has 3 options of charging, 2amps, 12amps and 75amps(jumpstart).
what if i was to hook it up to the battery on 75amps, if the car was turned off would the charger act somewhat like my alternator would? im just always working on the system a fair bit and i dont like having the car running all the time wasting gas.

I bet the charger overheats n melts for being run like that. And its only provides it for when needed, it doesnt bring the battery back full again. Like a cellphone, 5 min charge gets ya just that very lil use.

you can use it on 75 amp mode long enough to start the car. 5 seconds?

it will keep your battery up if you're tunning and tweeking at low volume on 12 amp mode
