volume dipping

Hey guys, today i installed 2 subs in a sealed box in my car and then tested them out for a bit. They play fine for about 1 min, then the volume of the subs alone just dips down really low and stays there. All the interior speakers running off the deck continue to play at the same volume. So i turn off the deck and sit for a bit thinking of what could be wrong. When i turn back on the system its loud again...for a bit. Then the volume just dips down low and stays there.
Any ideas on what could be wrong? Could it be that the amp isnt getting enough current?
Thanks.

sounds like your amp is going into protection, is it wired at the proper impedance? Is it hot when it drops volume?

The amp is stable down to 1 ohm and im running it at 2 ohms. Doesnt get hot at all and the subs never stop playing completely, they just get quieter for a bit and then back loud. Its almost as if there was somebody playing with the volume.

what model amp is it?

i have had amps in the past that, when they go into protect they regulate their power and reduce its output until conditions return to normal.

just a thought.

check the voltage at the amp, during the time that this happens.
it could be a bad ground.
also double check the final load with a dmm, just to be safe.

well generally those amps are pretty bulletproof.

maybe something to do with the preout section on your headunit?

1000/1 are stable down to 1.5ohm correct?

ya so if you measured at 2.7 you should be in perfect range.

do you happen to have another amp laying around? test it out and you can narrow it down so you at least know if it is amp/headunit/subs etc.
