Not too long ago someone here posted a pic of what happens when you run 1000 rms or more to a type R.

It wasn't what you desire I imagine.

Type R, Rest in Peace

For a new years eve party, we hit my friends 2x 12" Type R's, the older 2004 SVC models rated @ 300 watts RMS with over 1200 watts RMS and 2175 watts "burst" for a couple hours striaght with the clipping lights lighting up on every beat.... they still work fine. Those things were MOVING too.

But it's true, I haven't heard good things about Type R's taking loads of power either.

ran my 2 type R's at 750rms each just fine, i imagine they wont like more than 1000+ rms for anything other than a burp.

Over powering should always be a sealed situation lol

I'm running my 06' 12" Type R at 750 RMS for daily driving in a sealed box.
(0.87 cuft) No problems. Although I would like it louder but I don't have the room for a ported box.

Ok guys heres an update:

I hooked them up to my old amp i had around.. The amp for testing was a Audiobahn A2200HCT and i ran one type R on it for a total of 800watts rms @ 2 ohms.. The sub seems to keep up good, but i have a feeling my box design it causing some of the problems i had at higher volumes.. The box for the type R is 2.5^3 @ 32Hz. I get great punchy bass but the sub lacks in the low end, my problem lays at a higher volume, the sub doesnt hit hard (during punchy bass) as it was at the lower volume it kinda sounds like a small amp powering a bigger sub. . Probably the great audiobahn qaulity but other wise i played the sub hard for a good 1hr w/o problems other then the mentioned (which i beleive has to do with tuning)
