Dead amps/recievers
Dead amps/recievers
A buddy I work with is into building his own amplifiers and is looking for basically crapped out amps or recievers that he can mutilate and pull parts out of. Parts like the heat sinks or transformers usually are salvagable in these units and costs to buy them new is a bit stupid, so this kindof recycles them!
A good example of what I'm talking about is a Harman/Kardon AVR 5 reciever I bought at a garage sale for $10 because it didn't work. A few days worth of tinkering and I have it running now (1 out of the 5 amps blew, simply bypassed it) but inside there is a large transformer that takes the AC line input and converts it to the +/- 40VDC for your amplifier... Buddy here bought a one new for $80 by the time it was shipped and the one inside my reciever dwarfs his in size and power capabilities, plus there is a nice large heatsink inside and yadda yadda. I think he was planning to sabatoge my repair so he could scavenge the parts out of it lol
But anyways, if you have something you'd be willing to donate let me know, it would be much appriciated.
