15" Orion XTR2 in a band pass box

hey guys wondering if i can get ur opinions... i just bought a 15" Orion XTR2 in a band pass box and have tried 2 400w amps on it and with both amps it makes a weird 'POOF' noise instead of the proper kick sound. Kinda sounds like air's escaping or something. I'm wondering if it's the sub or the enclosure. Let me know if more info is needed. Thanx

There is a very good chance it's the enclosure... bandpass boxes only play a small spectrum of frequencies and are very specific to the driver...

The sub is probably unloading

Get rid of the box and build a proper ported box or just go sealed

a proper bandpass pending 4th,6th, 8th etc. can play a large variety of frequencies if it is designed CORRECTLY, that being the biggest thing.

im guessing the above it a prefab bandpass which are trash.
