Another dumb porting question
Ok guys go easy on me here but......
I dont really dont (probably not at all LOL) understand the box port calculating part but, its been recommended that I run the small subs I have in a enclosure that has a total volume of 1.2cft with a 3" port 10" long. What I want to know if I put them in seperate enclosures is it as simple as cutting the sizes in half ie: 0.6cft enclosure and 3" port 5" long? Im guessing yes, but want to check prior to firing up the saw.
Thx

so you have 2 subs in a single box and you want to put each one in a seperate box?
if you stick a 3" vent 5" long in a .6 cf enclosure it will tune to about 60 hz.
you need to decrease the vent area to shorten the vent lengh

Ok thanks for the reply yes thats right a dual sub set up in a single box ,both going into their own seperate boxes.
So if I wanted to tune to 38hz with a .6 box how (or where could I find this info) small do I need the port
Thx

you could dload a free program called winisd
or you could use http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31
or you cold just take my word that:
you old box was tuned to 36hz
to tune a new box .6 cf to 36hz you are going to need a vent 2 diameter 10" long
to tune to 38hz make the port 8.75" long
