box plans

i was wondering if you guys could help me find plans for a box.
i took some pictures of my truck and some measurments of the size and i built a box out of cardboard to see what it would fit like..

the sub i will be putting in the box is an 12" alpine type-R. the box needs to be smaller so it doesnt take up all the room in the back of my truck and id like it to be ported.

i dont care if the sub faces towards the front of the truck or the rear ( what evers best) the box will need to be pushed up against the seat though. i will post another picture below with dimentions

is there anything else to know?

here are the dimentions

could the sub be mounted on the angled piece to the back of the seat or would it be better faceing the back of the truck on the flat piece either way i guess doesnt matter prob better faceing the back

If you want that kind of setup maybe sub back (on the flat part facing the rear) and port out to the side might work.

iv been reading how to design ported boxes on the site realm of excursion and it seams quite difficult. more the port designing rather then the box building. im sure i could build the box easly if i had all the measurments but that site i was looking at says pick a place for the port and pick a size i wouldnt even know where to start picking numbers out of thin air. im new to all this but everyone iv talked to says build your own box dont buy one, at first i was just going to buy one cause it was easyer and i didnt wanna take the time to build it.

I'm not sure what kind of airspace the 12" type R's like, but if its the newer model with the funky surround they definetely like ported boxes. Check out alpine's website for box volume and port information, and check out this link to get started on how to design a ported box http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/u...;f=11;t=060743

you dimensions show you have 2.0cf net to work with
im sure that the new alpine stuff likes smaller boxes 1.5 cf or smaller tuned to around 30-33hz. you are looking at a port length of over 17.5" to tune to 33 hz and 22" to tune to 30.(asumeing you use a 4" port ) and that will not fit inside your box.unless you stick you port on the side of the box.

Ya, I'd tune it to 33 hertz with the port to the side sub back.
