box re-design help
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i have a 12" alpine type r running off a alpine mrpm500 amp at 2 ohms 500wrms and my first box i made was a complete f'up, got the plan off another forum and totally didnt realise it was 10.5 inches high and when i went to stick the sub in well yeah didnt fit, so i made a second with the dimensions from the sub booklet the outter dimensions were:
18L"x13.5D"x16.5H
thankfully the thing JUST squeazed in my trunk (05 pontiac g6)
as the top or the box hits the bottom of the magnet on the rear speakers on the deck, i unno if that is good on the speakers i unno but any who i cant remember how big my port is its a "L" slot port its 2.5-3 inches in width and about 9 inches long. and with the gain like half, it still pounds hard and rattles every part on the rear of the car it isnt putting out much air from the port, could it be restricted? so i think im not getting enough out of my sub due to the box design, and im wondering if anyone can help me out, the height cannot be more than 16" other measurements shouldnt matter much as the box shouldnt be more than 30 inches for a single 12"
any feedback is greatly appreciated.

These will help you out. Play around with the dimensions on the Rockford site. To use the port calculator properly you should know the 1-way excursion of the TypeR.
That'll get you an idea. Then you can present your hypothetical subwoofer here, and get some opinions.
