Building box, need help with port
#22
Another question for you guys, sense you were extremely helpful!!!
My buddy is making a rectangular box housing 2x MTX RT15-44.
The outside dimensions are H=16" W=33" D=21".
It will be in the trunk of a malibu. Trouble again is finding out the port size!!
The two subs will be firing towards the rear of the car and we have no room to put the port beside the subs. So the best bet would be to put the port facing upwards behind the subs. We were thinking about 34hz tuning, but have no idea how to make the port!
Any help would be appreciated!

That dual 10 wedge looks great.
The box size 16x33x21 is quite small for a pair of 15s, although the RT15s don't have very large box requirements so you might be alright. I'd do two 12s in that airspace instead.
The specs call for 4.96 cubes net airspace, with 58" of port area.
If you make a rectangular port (side firing will probably be better then top firing) that shares two walls with the enclosure, 5"x8", giving you 40" of port area - 15" length will give you a 34hz tune, and leave you with approximately 4.6 cubes net. Not too far off spec at all. Once again make sure your port edges are rounded as much as possible.

Another question for ya, is it possible to make the port on the side like you said, but from the top of the box to the bottom, instead of making it 8" tall? It would definitely change the dimentions of the port, but is it possible?

Perfect, thats awesome. Makes it much easier for sure haha! The port still keeps the 15" depth correct?
Will definitely post pics when we build it.. probably a vid or two also.
Here's a vid of the wedge box, subs weren't getting much power though.
Sorry about all the rattling... seatbelt mounts were loose

Thanks for the help! the 15" box sounds great!
This weekend i want to do a little project.
I'm going to make a small ported box for one of my NVX VCW 104 subs.
But i want it tuned low, say 30hz. Its just for playing around, small Saturday project.
I want to make it around 1.2 cuFT to and i want to have the port beside the sub.
The box dimensions i came up quickly with are H:14" W:15" D:14" = 1.221 cuft.
Feel free to modify box dimensions if needed to compensate for the port beside the sub.
You guys have been great, all of the boxes sound amazing!
Will post vids of the 2x 15" box, and this one as well!!
