Unhappy DD 1010 enclosure

I picked up a pair of DD 1010s from JordyO hoping to save space but increase performance over my 2 12" Kicker Comps. My mistake - they're recommended to be ported (from DD). I spoke with Steve at DD (very helpful) and he confirmed that they are indeed recommended to be run ported. As my plan was to save space (that's why I got 2 10s and not 2 12's!), I asked about a sealed enclosure; Steve recommended 1.5 cuft...each!
Does anyone have any experience with running DD in (small) sealed applications? My amp is an Orion 1200d in an 03 Concorde.
I'm hoping to not have to sell these. I'd like to stay with a sealed enclosure, preferably around 2 cuft for the pair.

Sealed designs are quite forgiving. DD probably recommended that size to maximize output of the drivers. You *can* go smaller, but you will lose a bit of raw output and low end.

Build to your plan (1 cube each) and stuff the box heavily. If using Polyfill, stuff it fairly tight; if using fibreglass go with R12 and line all sides and add two layers to the back panel. Stuffing can add up to 30% volume if done right.

Best,
Mark

Hey thanks. I was thinking of trying the polyfill route. I just don't want to spend the time and money and then end up having to rebuild. I'll see if I can stretch it to 1.1 cu/ft each and stuff it good.
I might as well give it a try.
Who am I kidding, I enjoy tinkering. I admit it.
I'll post with 'results' when all is done.
Cheers.
