Hey...

I have a fairly good plan on how to make my door pods, but all the info i have found so far has been for flat-backed pods.

My '04 cavalier has concave door trims. How do i cater for that?

Any idea's appreciated...

SImilar to making a kickpanel.

Tape off the door panel. Put 2-3 layers of glass on the tape in the area you want the pod. This is now your base rather than a flat piece of wood. After it's dry, pop it off, shape it, position the speaker baffle, fleece, glass, finish.

Easy peasy.

Oddly enough I just did this a few weeks ago in my 2002 Cavalier.. they turned out pretty good

Also.. a wise tip.. it is much easy to do with the door panel taken off the door resting on a table than in the car

You use the fleece to stretch between the speaker mounting ring and the base. Some people use grille cloth or t-shirt but I find them too thin for most work. After it is stretched and secured in place you soak it with fibreglass resin to make it hard. Depending on the piece you may need to add some small pieces of fibreglass matte to the inside later to stiffen it up more.
