Update!!

Re-siliconed the entire box and added foam tape between the oem plate and box top. The box is still too boomy and requires more work. lets hope the Dunaxorb does the trick.

The instructions for the dynaxorb states to use it with dynamat xtreme. So looks like the inside is going to get both.

Any other suggestions!

In general I would not recommend using silicon in your box. Just use fiberglass resin.

Resin will help seal the MDF up that is for sure.. As for Dynamating the box - ok, but it only adds about .35 lbs per sq ft of mass to your box, so it's not a major impact.. I'd save the $$$ for now, put the xorb in and see what it's like then.. until we get a handle on how big your box is (or small) it's tough to say.

But sealing the MDF is not a bad idea as MDF is only like 95% sealed on it's own..

Keep us posted.

You also said something about gasketing this thing in, can you post some pics of the box and install, may help out

Ok the enclosure air space is 0.95 cu.ft, (+/- .05) without the sub in.

The sub displacement is 0.025 cu. ft. / 0.71 liters

JL audio recommends 0.625 cu. ft. / 17.7 liters

Looks like I'm .30 too big

I'm going to do some out of car testing tomorrow and see if I can get it right

Any other suggests are still welcome

tx everyone

I could always turn the enclosure into a ported box instead of inserting filler wood to bring the overall volume down!

Tony Dynamat state to use Dynamat Xtreme with Xorb to get the best results.

Cheers

Silicone was only used on corners on the exterior - just incase air gets through

That is also the reason why Black Hole 5 was suggested....one product, one install and a highly predictable result. If the box is too big, duct tape up some styrofoam chunks and hot glue them into place. That will keep the box light and bring the volume down.

Thanks Rob,

I'm going to try that in the morn.

Also what about expanding spray foam?
