I've made the same mistake. Some wording is hard to comprehend. It makes it difficult, cause you have to find the port volume first, then subtract that from the total volume.

Glad to help! I love ported boxes not only for their output capabilities, but also because I love the challenge of the math involved. I like it when a box isn't simple and straight forward, but requires a little extra time at the drawing board with a calculator.

i agree its much more satisfying. Especially since i only have a 3 1/2 apartment with only a drill and a jigsaw. I go to home depot with my measurements, they cut it all up, and when im done building it, my kitchen and living room look like workshop, lol.

but when its done, its something to be proud of...now i know my measurements have been all wrong though.

oh, another question for you guys, what kind of adhesive do you use for the carpeting?
