flared port length

When considering tuning as far as port length and dealing with flared ports, would the port length start from the edge of the flare, or from the edge of the tube that the flared ends fit onto

I know that if i am dealing with a 3" port or something, the difference would be minimal and probably negligable, however i am going to be trying something a little bigger and was figuring that it could make the port actually shorted that it could.

please any input is welcome

What about creating a 3/4" roll off on the mdf?

Lightbulb

With a consistent radius flare you would consider half the length of the flare regardless of vent diameter.

ie. if you used a 1" x 1" roundover, you would add 1/2" per flare to the end of the tube, or subtract 1/2" per flare from the overall length to figure the effective length of the vent.
