Help with Momo box plans?
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to see if anyone could confirm something for me.
I got a really good deal on a Polk Momo 10" sub - so building a little box for ***** and giggles.
I'm using Polks recommended ported enclosure, but I was hoping someone could confirm something for me.

Is it really asking for two 3" ports, 10" long each? or is the LV measurement split between the two ports, so 2 x 5" long ports?
Sorry for the dumbass question - just want to make sure I'm doing it right before I start cutting and glueing.

that seems OK. I just did a plot with winisd and it gives the same answer. This is a peaky box! 4 dB peak at 50 Hz. Lotsa boom. If you are interested in SQ, make it a sealed box, it will be much smaller, with-3db at 55Hz, but in car gain will compensate.
Nice Sub. I almost used it for a small sealed console between the front seats of my minivan. Used a infinity reference 1042W instead. got it for 20 bucks and the dvc works better with my amp.

Cool - thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, does have quite a spike.... I'll probably end up building a sealed and a ported, just to see how they compare. Curious to see what sort of bang I'm going to get for my 30 bucks.

Actually you do not have to work that hard. Just build the ported box. If you want to compare to a sealed, simply seal off the ports. You can also put in some 2x4s into the box to reduce the volume. I suggest you get winisd. it is free and easy to use.

Good point on the sealing...
yeah - would prob be useful to be able to check future boxes myself. Always a bit confusing with all the different variables for the subs though.... seems like some manufacturers have different names for the same variables. But long term, probably time well spent figuring it out.
I'll let you guys know how it sounds!
