How to make this sub box(es)
Hey guys,
Looking to change up my setup of my 2 12" subwoofers that are currently in a sealed box
I'd like to put one in each corner of my trunk (closest to the tailights)
- Trunk (similar to mine, couldn't find exact picture, but you get the idea)
Now I have the "recommended" sealed enclosure specs from the manufacturer (alpine) 14x14x13.5 (including width of 1/2 inch MDF). I did a mock up, and they will fit - except I have an issue. Whe my trunk closes, it has an arm on each side that go down as well. Which when fully closed I think its about 5-7" deep.
How can I make this idea work? I was thinking of just creating a "dip" like the pic below...
But I feel that will drastically screw something up. If I possibly increased the width of the box to try and make up for some of the lost space from the dip - would that work? Otherwise...whats the best way of going about this design?
Also: Not trying to blow out any crazy numbers or DB's - So i'd like to keep this a sealed box. Sub specs are 2x Alpine 12" Type R's 4ohms each

The biggest problem is the mounting depth of the driver i think... the "dip" will make it impossible to put the speaker in there.... and i don't think its a good idea to have subs facing each other... might be wrong here... also the nicest effect is usually when they face the back of the car... i think the best it will be to design a standard box that is right against the seats subs facing back, you will gain trunk space as well.... can't really think of anything that relates to your idea...

why is that dip there in the first place if your building a sealed enclosure what does the dip do all you need is 1cubic foot per sub at the most 1.25 that being the case your box doesnt have to be any taller then 14 " and no wider than 28" and your depth
12" or so
12" or so
