I also need help designing a box...

Hey guys,

Love the forums! A little bit about me, 16 years old, 'restoring' a truck to drive come Nov. when I get my G2 and working on a system.

Ok, give me wood and I can build anything, give me metal and I can weld anything, even give me measurements and I can design anything, HOWEVER, I completely utterly SUCK at coming up with the dimensions of a box. (my really weak point...)(btw... ^all of that was an exageration... LOL)

So I need a little help, even guidence where to start would be awesome.

I have three 8" subs and need to make a ported enclosure for them. I can do 3 seprate enclosures or 1 big one. Which do you think is best?

I want it to hit as hard as possible.

I have about 9" wide x 40" long to work with and it can be as high as it needs to be. I would like to have the subs mounted on the top and 9" should allow them to just fit, if not I may be able to squeeze a few more inches out of it.

Any suggestions on sizes / methods to build it / programs to use?

If someone wants to throw together a design that would be great!

Here are the specs:

Fs 22.8Hz
Re 3.2DVC
Qms 4.21
Qes 0.38
Qts 0.34
Sd cm2 195
Vas 27.1
Xmax 1way 12mm
BL 15.4
SPL 1W/1m 81.2
RMS 175W
Max 250W

Thanks
Zac

P.S. This is my starter system. I may be upgrading to a SPL competition stereo in the near future.

To clarify, its an EXT. cab truck, however I still want to try and keep the back seats so I am thinking a center console. Which would follow the above demensions.

Thanks,
Zac

Put these numbers into winisd, and clearly I dont know how to use it yet, you could try google WINISD its a speaker box design software and its free

Im gonna say they dont look like your gonna get a lot of slam out of them but will give you more than what you got, Build a ported box and tune high for more SPL

BTW what amp are you using, my bad for not reading your whole post before replying last time

Zac, i got a design figured out for ya. this should work for your 3 8's. you need to build your box to 2.25cu'. you can use 3 2"inside dim cir ports at 7.75" long or 2 3"inside areoports at 9.3" long.

I would build a slant face box. with the base at 7.5X40
Back at 19.5X40
top at 3.5X40
face at 20X40
sides at 7.5X18 then cut top to 3.5

that will work for a rec cab truck,

i tryed to get as much out of those subs as i could but if you want it to pound, i would try a couple of 10's or a 12"
