tdawg I appriciate what you said, and standing up for me and the other people out there that do not understand things.
I am very knowledgable about other things, but when it comes to subwoofer enclosures i am not. thats why i came to the site looking for help.
Now that i have the demensions
12.5" x 14.5" x 17.25"
and the length of the port is 22"
im not understanding the 11" square inch Vent??
i have all of the materials I just need confermation on the design
theres another post on this forum that someone designed for a type S that looks like this.

Np I'm just tired of reading posts on people harassing those who are trying to ask for help on a forum thats geared for helping others.
Btw your design looks exactly like the one I had made for mine only I have a pair and mine works awesome.

The spec calls for an 11 square inch vent opening. You'll notice that the internal height is 11 inches (12.5 inches overall height minus 2x0.75" wood thickness), thus the vent opening will be 1 inch.
The vent is listed as 22 inches long. The overall depth of the enclosure is 14.5". Subtract the thickness of the back wall and the 1" vent width you must maintain and the first section of vent is 12.75" long (cut the wood at 12" since the baffle is also 3/4").
The vent length needs to be calculated down the center of the opening so its effective length is 14.5-0.75-0.5 = 13.25"
The balance of the vent is then 22-13.25 = 8.75"
So the second length of wood, assuming you use 3/4" wood for the vent and you butt the second piece to the side of the first, like the picture shows, it should be 8.75-0.5-0.75 = 7.5" long
Now did Alpine allow for the end correction? Who knows. In this case it would only be 1/2" and honestly, that 1/2" isn't going to make a lick of difference so cut the end section between 7" and 7.5" and it will be fine.
Or something like that anyways..
how far from the 90 degree does the port keep going

You can then use WinISDPro to set your own Fr at 31 Hz and play with port area and length to fit your box better.
Having said that Alpine does give a very good allround box design.

Seem like nobody wants to do a bit of research on a topic anymore. Everyone wants quick answers. Car audio is a hobby like any other. Learn about it. Read about it. Then ask a questions.
had the OP downloaded and started WinISD and came back and said " i tried entering some parameters and I get stuck" i would have been happy to help.
When first joined this forum years ago I answered every friggin question there was. But that wore me down when I realize that the same questions where asked over and over again : how do I wire 2 4ohm subs into 2 ohms.So I stopped because I was tired of being used as a search engine/calculator.

When your kids (if have or will have kids) ask you for homework help you dont do the work for them. You show them how to solve the problem themselves by going over the text book, showing how to search the web for material, and giving them some basic hints. That way the will LEARN how to do it and wont have to ask you again next time.
