new enclosure design idea
has anyone heard a general free air enclosure? it just seems so much easier to cut a hole in the steel and screw the sub in, rather than fiberglassing and making a box and such. how bad would it sound to just leaave the sub like that? would i need a port or anything?
also, if i were to choose to build an eclosure from the inside of the trunk so the sub in the deck would sound better, would there be any substitution rather than wood? it would be very ideal to just close off a portion of the trunk to act as a box, but why use would? all that matters is that its airtight, right? is there nothing else i could use to more easily close off a part of the trunk to make it airtight? the front baffle will be the steel of the rear deck, and as long as i have a certain amount of volume in the trunk closed off, why use wood? the question is, what could i use?:S
