Plexi glass on front of box

I'm building a sealed box for a pair of ten inch pioneer subs. I wanted to have plexi glass in fron of the subs for lighting effect and protection of the subs. How far apart does the glass have to be away from the sub. does different distance make a diferent sound quality?

thanks for the reply, Does the distance between the glass and the woofer changer the sound? The box is built to exact spec's for my woofer.
