Port Question
Port Question
Lets just say I'm building a ported box.
And the port is 6"x13" (Round port)
How far away should the end of the port be from any wall?
I think i remember it being 1/2 the diameter, but i could be wrong.
If anyone could help shed some light on this one, it would be a great help.

Maybe its different for round ports, but what I've read is that the distance of the port opening from any wall is at least the same measurement as the widest measurement of the port. So I think you're looking at 6".

Hope that helps.

For optimum performance, keep the port one vent-diameter away from the back and sides of the enclosure.
should be as far away from the wall as the diameter of the port (6inches) for best output and as little noise as possible but i have had them as close as 3/4 diameter with little to no ill effects. But if you have the room in your box do it right.
I am looking to build one, just space its at a MAJOR premium.
The only way I can get the volume I need, in the space I have is to use a 6" port.
And i dont think firing the port up will work very well for me.
I need bass again, I'm going crazy

if space is a major premium... why not go sealed?
