Ported Box for 2 Alpine SWR-1241
I want to create a box for these two woofers, however I can't find a recommended ported box volume for them (the spec sheet only shows recommened sealed volumes of 0.7~1.0 ft^3 per sub). I have a PDF copy of the specs but it is too large to attach. Can the box be slot ported, or how should they be ported? I am pretty handy but this will be the first ported box I have made. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Added spec's for the subs. I was thinking of having seperate enclosures for each driver in the same box, is this a bad idea/waste of space? I would also like it to be no taller than 16" if possible and can be up to 40" long. Design help is appreciated!

the EBP= 62.2 (EBP=fs/qes) suggest that sub will work great in a ported box or sealed box , i suggest 1.75-2.0 cf @ 30-35hz. and as for putting your subs in seperate or common chambers, for many ppl its just a personal preferance. but to me it depends on box size type, and how much room you have to work with.

I pulled this up on crutchfield, it says that Alpine recommends .85 cubes sealed as the optimum size. I have the new R's in the same sized recommended sealed box( dual chamber/single box). I love it, it sounds great, and is less filling. I had a 4-4.5 cube ported box in the last car that also sounded great, but it took up a lot of space. I could not afford the space this time around, and decided to go sealed. As far as I'm concerned, I've lost nothing, as this set up is as loud overall with 1200 watts as the 3 Infinity drivers were in the ported box@ 900 watts. SQ is better on some tracks, output is a little less on others, but overall very similar to the previous set up. A few advantages to having dual chambers is; if there is a problem with one woofer, it is easy to see if it's working at all or not. When they're both sharing a common volume, it can be difficult to detect which one is not working, also, if one blows or needs to be removed for some reason(warranty etc..), you can still have good sound with one driver in it's proper sized enclosure. Anyway, see the link below for more information.
