Spare Tire Well Enclosure questions

I got bored a few weeks ago and decided i would build a spare tire enclosure using fibreglass and make the top MDF Sealed.

I ended up with a approx 26" x 8" round box.. works out to 2.2 cubic feet before displacement.

So I muonted my 2 Kaption SPL 1200's, at first it sounded good then went awful.. found i broke (cracked) the fibreglass.. so another half gallon of resin and a couple square yards of long strand fibre i got it repaired and really thick now, and sounds decent at both low to moderate , Moderate and almost high volumes..

Further more i find at high volumes the whole tirewell enclosure lifts up a good inch from the well location causing unwanted noise/rattle.

2 Questions...

1. Obviously i should mount this securely, should i mount just the bottom fibreglass made well to the bottom of the trunk by using a 1" Bolts or should i mount from the MDF top Down using 10" bolts to re-inforce the baffle and sandwhich the tirewell fibreglass mold? I think 10" bolts is my best choice but i wanted opinions..

2. My internal volume for 2 12" subs is small, prolly 1.7 after displacement, i can easily put a 6" port out of PCV, elbow it and get about 24" of port length.. is this advisable or leave it sealed..

I have thought of that, maybe using a metal 1x1/8 bar with foam on the bottom to help keep it from rising out of the hole.

I Actually did mount it this weekend using 3/8 threaded rod, it less'nd the rattle alot but im still not 100% happy .. My biggest thing is i went from a 42hz 3.5 cubic slot port box to a sealed 1.75 cubic box.. Im gonna port this well and see how it sounds.. if im still not happy then im going back to a ported box. or 2 1 for each sub, they will be easier to move in and out of the trunk.
