Thumbs up

[QUOTE=420guy;426375
So now comes time to set the gains and get it sounding real good. Just added a Memphis 4ch on the components in the doors too so I am enjoying sonic bliss but it is not perfect yet. Anyone around Brampton / Mississauga want to get together this Sat and help a guy out with some tuning? I will come to you and supply beverages etc.

Nick[/QUOTE]

I can help with the setup......PM me for more info......

i agree to a point, if you buy a crappy amp no box or sub in the world will help you. you'll never get the potential from your loaded box with a economy amp like you would with high quality amps. remember MEI? LANZAR? MA AUDIO? don't go near them unless you want a crappy system. and i don't wanna hear " i had a ma audio it was awsome" cause a alpine or fosgate of the same power will stomp all over it.

the amplifier and it's conditions are covered under the install part
personally I think the amplification is very important..
I like sub amps with a very high effective damping factor
the bass is much more solid and detailed
class AB with ballance current servo's FTW

So what other factors make the perfect sub box? Ported or sealed, carpet/polyfill inside the box and the recommended enclosure volume. Does the shape of the box change things? Anything else I don't know about(I'm sure there is)?

as far as sealed or ported being better...it all depends on the woofer and
personal taste...neither is really better than the other

a well constructed enclosure (ported) has no restrictions in the way of
smooth airflow ...
has no choked off sections that interfear with the woofers ability to CUP the
internal volume
and is built solid to avoid any panel vibaration or flex

a combination of proper effective cf3 and port velocity is very important with
ported and can make or break the performance

polyfill is just a band aid for a crap box...not needed if built right
