Will the shape of a sealed box change the SPL or SQ?

Would I have to calculate that as a loss in volume? Pioneer recomends 0.8 cubic feet for the sub I'm gonna use, and that would take up some space in the box.

loss of volume would be minimal. since air would still flow through it.
