so can anyone help me out and explain just how this works exactly? Mr. Prabucki I'm hoping you chime in. plus I haven't talked to you in a while lol.

I mean, I get how it works (I think) but I'm having trouble getting all the T/S numbers right. its for an American Bass XFL 12 (go figure)

 

I have no idea who Mr. Prabucki is.... and seeing as noone has responded, here is my .02. I'm no WinISD pro, but use it ofter enough, so here it goes...

After converting all the T/S measurements to ones that WinISD understands you will likely find some that it doesn't like.

First thing I do is remove the auto calculate @ the bottom of the screen, before I input my info. Also, you need to know if the T/S specs you have are for series, parallel, or single coil.

Then go through & input the knowns. Then I hit the auto calculate, and it will fill in the rest. Now, some, it won't like.... those, I simply clear the field and hit enter. It will usually auto calculate the missing field. You will usually see that it was only a little off (a few points). If it is WAY out, put your calculation back into the field and move on to the next one. Eventually after several attempts the far off ones are not off as much as they were in the start. Sometimes you just have to accept one or two being off quite a bit. Find out what that field represents for the subs ability and take it into account when viewing the graphs later.

In my case, it doesn't like the BL of TFOnes, if I force the BL factor, several other factors have to give for it to accept the info. So I just got everything as close as possible (actually almost perfect) and just sacrificed a little of the BL but that has a large affect on the outcome of some graphs, so they will only be close, in perfect conditions, at the very best. Keep in mind your subs actual T/S specs aren't even the same right now as the ones you have, not to mention there is probably a small difference between each sub too.

I like to enter the big ones: FS, Vas, Qes, Qms, Xmax and hit 'tab' after I enter them. The other values will often autocalculate as you go along and, as mentioned, as long as they aren't way off from the manufacturer's spec, it's not a big deal.

 

Read the manual/help section. It explains very nicely how to enter your own T/S parameters.

 

I suggest not using the alpha ed. but rather the beta version.
