Yet another enclosure

Alright guys, here's the deal. My car is already on sub box number 3, a dual 10 inch ported box tuned to 35 HZ. It pounds really well, and will last me through the winter. But unfortunately I'm never quite happy with what I have and always want something better, and so am always thinking to the next box I'm going to build. Whether it's going in my new car this spring, or my current one, makes no matter. I have a couple questions and concerns.

First, since I want to incorporate plexi so I can see inside the box, I have an issue with sub placement. That said, I've considered using an upward-firing configuration, but I'm a little concerned as to what it will sound like in the end. The ports would still be rear facing, since they push more air than the subs themselves anyway. But if anyone can tell me whether or not this type of box would sound good, I'd appreciate it. Short of that, any suggestions on design would be nice too, keeping in mind that I want to see inside the box. Sound is great, but I want to look good too :P

Well I kinda figured it might. But to be honest as it is at higher levels it already DOES rattle the out of it, lol. I plan on fixing that at some point anyway, so it won't be an issue. Especially considering I'll be going with more power come spring, probably double what I already have (which would give me 2400w )

But would it maybe work better to have them facing the rear seat?

I have a trunk car and I built a box to seal off the trunk. I went with tens and offset them to get more port area. Sealing off the trunk gets rid of the rattle (well most of it). I have the port firing on the drivers side. SO basically I made a mini sub wall to seal off my trunk and give me beter numbers. I dunno what your into like spl or anything but its working really good for me.

Well realistically I want to go deaf, but I want to clearly hear what's making me deaf at the same time :P. A good balance of SQ and SPL is what I've got right now. I've noticed the ported design I am currently using doesn't do much outside it's tuning frequency, but that's fine with me since subs aren't any good for anything over 50 Hz anyway. So let's see if I understand your design concept..you have 2 subs, set off to one side of the box, with the port on the opposite side?

It's not so much the port area I'm concerned with, it's more the presentation of the system. Even before I put it together I've always wanted to be able to see inside the box with a plexi piece. Sound and quality is fine, but I gotta have it looking good too. Really, facing my subs towards the back seats or upward would fix all my problems, I'm just not sure what kind of sound issues I'll run into.
