How about my co-pilot (pat) drives from Vancouver to Kamloops, then Icon and Fat Wacker meet in Kamloops as well. In Icon's car, Faty and Pat travel to Calgary. Meet Westec, Benz, Bryce then we loop through the Hat and head East to Regina, Winnepeg etc...picking people up along the way. How does this sound? Probably this all starts on Tuesday 12:00 pm in Kamloops...How does this sound?

Pat28 and team shadow can follow from Vancouver or drop down to the US and meet us by the Hat or along the Canada border...its 30ish hours from Calgary to Memphis, any idea the time from Winnepeg to Memphis? And any suggestions where we can meet up with the Eastern crew?

Winnipeg to Memphis - 2200 km (22 hrs)
Regina to Winnipeg - 580 km (6 hrs)
Calgary to Regina - 750 km (8 hrs)
Kamloops to Calgary - 625 km (7 hrs)
Vancouver to Kamloops - 350 km (4 hrs)

I'm basing this on 100km average driving speed, which when you factor in stops for food and gas is a bit on the conservative side, but it's better to leave some extra time for anything unexpected - best case scenario, we get into Memphis earlier on Thurs. night.

2 of 3 competitors have indicated they would like to arrive in Memphis "Thursday" night. Having competed at several Finals, I would agree with this - it's nice to get in and be rested for Friday. And as spectators we should let them have their preference, right? It'd be nice to all drive down together.

So working backwards from this, but still leaving as "late" as possible for those with other commitments, we'll work on midnight arrival in Memphis.

Vancouver - Leave 9pm Oct. 14
Kamloops - Leave 1am Oct. 15 (might want to drive during the day of Oct. 14 and spend the night in Calgary - this section of road is a bit hairy - I wouldn't want to drive it all night)

Calgary - Leave 8am Oct. 15
Regina - Leave 4pm Oct. 15
Winnipeg - Leave 10pm Oct. 15
Memphis - Arrive Midnight Oct. 16

Arriving Thurs night requires an extra hotel stay, but it does allow for an easy return to a regular sleep schedule. We could push all these time back 8 hrs for arrival Friday morning, but then it's hard to get back on a normal sleep cycle.

How does this sound to everyone?

i did one of those interactive maps(map quest) and it showed me that the fastest route for a vancouver trip to memphis is south from here. basically i did a shortest route search and a quickest route. both routes go directy south along i5, we shall see though. we do not know what kind of help we will get from our sponsors yet, so one choice that we never thought about is sending the car by train and meeting up with it there.
either way the route shown to us is
1)washington
2)oregon
3)idaho
4)utah
5)wyoming
6)nebraska
7)iowa
8)missouri
9)arkansa
10)tennessee
4075 kms and an estimate of 40 hrs.
according to our search
so if we goto calgary, it's about a 13hr drive to then do 30.
