I got a 140 alt and a optima yellow top ready to install. Heres the plan, 0/1 gauge chassis to negative on battery, 0/1 gauge engine block to negative on battery, now theres already 8 guage( maybe 4 ) from alt to starter then it goes to positive on battery, i am going to add 4 guage directly from alt to battery positive (should i use 0/1 maybe?) sound good? Any tips before I attempt this (actually my friend is doing it for me lol). Also if I add the 4 or 0/1 on the positive side post is the possible haveing two wires coming from the side post (new wire + 8 guage)? Thanks

If you're running 1/0 elsewhere, why not just run it on the bat-starter-alt also.
Replace the existing factory wire and use good ends and clean everything well.
