As of right now the only 2 vehicles going are my car and Steve Van which wil lbe towing the mini. We are both hard core, and not backing out. Steve has a guy from Edmonton coming with him, only problems is he lost his license, so he won't be driving. So Steve and I start out and head to the Hat. Derek can hop in with me or Steve. John and Chev2 have agreed to meet in Regina. Once we get to Regina John and Chev2 pile in with Steve and Wade and Derek Saddle up in my Buick and we hit the road straight through to Memphis. I'm not sure how Robby fits into all of this? But I will be staying with him in Memphis in the room that Tim reserved. Derek, do you want to stay with us and transfer the reservation over to your name and card?
This should make for enough drivers and room.
So Me, Wade and Derek pool and
Steve has Icon, Chev2, and his buddy from Edmonton to keep them from falling asleep. There is lots of storage space in the van and we can cram gear into the mini Steve says. There is enough room in the van for a guy to strech out and sleep if they need 2.
How does this sound?
James?
Robby?

chev2 10-02-2003 11:52 AM

I have not agreed to drive to regina..

I WILL NOT drive 5 hours to save YOU 15 minutes.. Give me a break. I checked mapquest and its a 15 minute difference.

what happened to westec and kickercolt?

Dereck Waller 10-02-2003 12:34 PM

I agree with Chev2. I checked and the distance from Medicine Hat to Memphis is 1998 miles. Then adding stops in Regina and Winnipeg makes it 2001 miles. I won't argue over 3 miles distance. I need to get the info from Tim about the room, I can get it on my card.

Well for those who don't know, I am officially out. I wanted to hold off until I knew what was going on with my disability. Turns out I am going back on Monday and won't be able to take any remaining holidays that soon. Also I might have a new job in the works that I could be starting within the next couple weeks, so I have to keep my schedual open.

Sorry folks. No time to play unfortunatly. :(

I thinl I have insomnia now that finals are so close. :( Oh well its all good :D

Landry 10-07-2003 01:49 PM

Hey guys, I might be able to attend this event now! I am heading down with the girlfriend to St Louis for vacation and just realized as Icon told me that this happened to be at the same time! I am leaving Saskatoon on the 16th, going to Winnipeg (staying at Grandmas) then going South. I have done much research and talked to someone who has drove the route, trust me I-29 from Emerson (Pembina border crossing - south of Winnipeg) all the way south to Kansas City is the fastest route. You might think going through Minnesota etc is the same distance but so many big cities will slow you down. I-29 goes through North/South Dakota, Nebraska then Kansas, then you cut straight east. I got maps through CAA etc. I plan on going to Six Flags amusement park in St. Louis and going on some awesome roller coasters. I am also heading to the east coast after that. I have two weeks off work and probably getting engaged on the trip. Plus the exchange rate is AWESOME right now - glad I waited to get my travellers cheques. Anyways can a guy buy admission right at the gates in Nashville or how does that work (how much)? I don't know anything about this event, don't even know much about IASCA! Hope I can meet up with you guys.

Wade 10-07-2003 01:59 PM

Dollar hit a 7 year high (or low depending on how you look at it) today.

Great time to travel to the US.

Be sure to check out the arch in St. Louis - quite cool.

You can buy admission into the event - that's part of how they pay for the show. I think it was $10 or something along those lines.

Drive safe, have fun and hopefully we'll see you @ finals.

Landry 10-07-2003 02:21 PM

Yes dollar is great for travelling to USA. Not so good for other things, it is hurting work bad. I am going to that Arch but thanks for the tip anyway Wade.

Team_Obsession 10-07-2003 10:12 PM

cool, more people

Well. I registered tonite for finals. There are only 8 competitors registered in Ultra SQi, and that's without splitting up power classes. so in the 1-600 class there might be Myself, Steve and 3 or 4 other guys.

So Wade, you have a good route planned?
If I wasn't so dog tired from work and everything else I'd have trouble sleeping like it's christmas.

You Fellas excited?

And Rob, if someone else is trusting you to take thier kid out of the country in your vehicle please clean up so he doesn't get misplaced in all the mcdonalds containers and loose wires in your car.
:D

Landry 10-09-2003 03:22 AM

Hey guys I see no reason I can't make this show. I am curious which route is West group heading, are you guys meeting the East group somewhere around Illinois? Just trying to confirm what the plan is, I have been reading through posts trying to get "caught up" for the past hour. Can't sleep so I thought I would do some research on this.

Just for anyone that cares I found these directions on the Memphis Cook Convention Center website:

Directions From The North:
Coming in from I-40, take 240 West, from 240 exit back onto I-40 West. From I-40 West exit onto Second and Third Street (Exit 1-A). You will be traveling south on Second Street. At the second traffic light turn right (west) onto Poplar. Entry to the underground parking is on the West side of the main building at Front Street. Turn right (north) from Poplar on to Front Street. Parking is on the right immediately before the next intersecting street.

Directions From The Southeast:
Connect with 240 West, directional sign will say St. Louis. Continue on 240 to intersection with I-40 West (directional sign will say Little Rock, Exit 31-B). From I-40 West exit 1-A onto Second Street and follow directions above.

From West:
Crossing I-40 bridge. Before you leave the bridge take the Front Street. Exit and stay in the north lane. The bottom of the exit ramp is directly across the street from our main building on Front Street. To get to the parking entrance, turn left onto Front Street and the entrance will be on your right immediately before the next intersecting street.

Landry 10-09-2003 03:32 AM

From what I understand West group is leaving Winnipeg October 15th at 11pm? I could probably make it to Winnipeg by midnight on the 15th, because I work nightshift until 7am that day. I will see what the girlfriend wants to do as she will decide anyways

I have a Ford Windstar rented, I would certainly need an extra driver on the way to Nashville if I do meet up with you guys in Winnipeg. Would anyone be available to drive a few hours so the girlfriend and I can sleep? If not I can just meet up with you guys in Nashville, but probably won't arrive until Saturday the 18th then.

Wade 10-09-2003 11:09 AM

The prelim plan was to meet up with the east in IL - but no one from the east ever said anything about to the best of my knowledge.

The route through St. Louis is very similar in terms of distance - general consensus is that it's a bit quicker too as it's way less urban - the greater Chicago area can really slow you down if you pass through at the wrong time of day.

My preference would be to go through St. Louis - it's been quite a while since I was down that way.

I'm sure there'd be enough drivers that somone could help out with driving.

Number 2 10-09-2003 11:48 AM

Derek. Will your conviction be an issue? or have you taken care of that.
