"This is the biggest subwoofer anyone has every installed in a car"

That had to be the stupidest, cheesiest, most ridiculous clip of PMR I have ever seen...Next in line is when the mounted a fishtank between 2 subs..

Although, I did like the way they did the install.I'm not one for inverted subs, but I could see that being the only way to do that sub justice.....Just to bad he can't do Db Drag with it....LOL..

Here are a couple of funny points:
-LOL @ IB install
-"warning light" that flicks on @ 100db - LMAO! A stock stereo will do more than 100db.
-sub hit a peak of 130db
-voltage dropped to 11.2V
-why the funk did they not install a HO alternator in this kid's car?
-the glass falling was staged
-Mad Mike is gay
WHy laugh at the IB install? They used steel bracing to ensure it's all solid. And with all the amps etc in the trunk, it was probably pretty close to the right volume.
The warning light was probably a a piece bought from an industrial safety supply company, and was preset to 100 dB which can be damaging if that level is maintained for a prolonged period.
No where does it say "peak of 130", he just says it's at 130 dB, which is pretty loud when playing music, in a sealed box. It probably could go louder.
What's wrong with the voltage drop? That will happen when the car may or may not be running and you are drawing hundreds of amps of current.
Of course the glass falling is staged, it's a TV show.
So are you and your hatertude
</font>
-The steel bracing was just on the baffle + motor. I doubt they could extract the right volume of a car that size. Maybe if a guy has POS van then that would be a better candidate.
-I know it's for sheer amazement because the sub is so big but that warning light is gay as hell. "Hey let's get you a big *** 22" sub but whenever the volume is louder than 100db just back off."
-You call me a hater here but I'm just pointing out what I noticed in the video. You probably will sympathize with the installers so it's obvious you will disagree with a lot of stuff

I liked the db meter but it probably wasnt accurate with sub-bass like a bass off meter.

And the way they were talking up the woofer it was good advertizing for MTX! A better SPL number would have been better advertizement for me. But that was pretty neat none the less, an engineering statement.

What is wrong with having the warning light at 100dB? Isn't the whole idea to warn you?
What would be the point of having a warning light at a level that would already be causing you hearing damage?

If anyone really thinks you need to be listning to your stereo louder than 100db for any lenght of time give me a call in a few years. I have some hearing aids to sell you.
