04 Sunfire Gremlin?
#1
Just did a Pioneer cd in a new Sunflower. Interesting issues going on here. Normally the factory head dies when you open the door, no issues with that. Run the head relocation kit, install the new head and one would expect it to run the same, well no, of course not, the install gremlin shows his head.
Take keys out and close the door and the unit goes off after 15 seconds. Open the door and it comes alive again for another 15 seconds and shuts off. (timed the intervals). The unit will work without the keys in, great. Meter the ing line at the cd player and it confirms the dropout for 1/2 sec. A computer somewhere is pulsing the line. Wondering if any of you guys have seen this yet?
Hard wired the new cd to the pink ign line to solve the hiccup but it does not solve the problem, especially when the customer wants the thing to work on ACC or IGN. Yes I could just tap a line at the fuse panel that will do this but it does not find the gremlin. I need to find that cursed little bastard and throat punch him.

Hey, when them "sunflowers" came out there pretty quick car and still are, now sure they don't have 200+hp I have no problem with ever getting 99/2000 Sunfire gt 5 Speed I liked our 98 Gt better then our 04 Z24.
Anyway I never had the issues your seeing, now I didn't bother with the ac for the key on/off just taking the face plate off would shut down the power so I was happy with that then like you said deck powers up with no key needed to be inserted. Now I don't know if that makes a diff or not but I didn't use that "So called needed relocation harness" Had no issues with mine just didn't feel like looking for the wire for the ACC

Use a standard harness(metra 70-2003 or Scosche GM-05) not the t-harness because you doesn't need it, except if you still want to have the chime(but they make a chime module if you want), and plug the ACC wire from the radio to a ACC wire in the car(whipper or AC fuse or a yellow wire) and after that it will work like every other car, what the prob with that. I don't know why installer want to use the t-harness except to sell a more expensive plug and make more money or because they doesn't know how class-2 wiring work.

a lot of dealers just dont know about the class 2 wiring, or dont care , they just sell the customer the $80 dollar harness and charge way$ for relocating the boat anchor into the trunk somewhere
